Volunteering as a Facilitator
FACE relies exclusively on volunteers to help organize our leadership and programming. The primary role of volunteers is to facilitate the restorative justice circles. To do this the facilitators receive a full weekend of training, and work in pairs. They do preparation work before a circle, including conducting initial interviews with participants (which could take 3 to 6 hours over the course of a few weeks), and finally they lead the circle (2-3 hours long). Facilitators are not asked to do more than one circle every three months.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
FACE relies on volunteers to serve in the following additional areas:
- leadership on the Board of Directors,
- assisting with administrative support,
- fundraising,
- writing or formatting an occasional newsletter,
- attending youth and adult criminal court to ensure people know that this program is an option, and
- promotion of the program in the community.
Facilitator Training
